Air to Air Photography

Air-to-air photography reveals aircraft in their most natural and dynamic state—moving through open sky, free from the constraints of the ground. It’s a technical challenge that demands precision, timing, and coordination between pilots and photographers. But the result is worth it: clean lines, sharp silhouettes, and the subtle play of light and atmosphere on metal surfaces. These images capture the essence of flight—not as a static object, but as something alive and in motion. There’s a clarity and simplicity to it that speaks more to function than flair, and that’s where the real beauty lies.

I was fortunate enough to experience this unique feeling four times during my aviation photography career, once in the Republic of North Macedonia, once in the skies above Belgium, once in the skies above the Czech Republic as part of the arrivals for the annual NATO airshow in Ostrava, and lately as part of a project for the Royal Danish Air Force.
