Aviation Photography in 2017
In 2017, the Maltese Islands saw a variety of rare aircraft types visiting Luqa Airport.
Besides my local airport, for the first time in 2017 I also visited various exercises and events throughout Europe. These included:
- Exercise Frisian Flag 2017 that took place in Leeuwarden, Netherlands;
- Exercise EART 2017 that took place in Eindhoven, Netherlands;
- A one day visit to Wittmund Air Base in Northern Germany;
- The RF-4E Farewell event organised by the Hellenic Air Force in Larissa, Greece;
- The Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford, United Kingdom;
Following these events, it was time for the Malta International Airshow 2017, which as usual attracted absolute highlights of all time in the history of the Maltese Airshow; a flying display from the Saudi Hawks and Turkish Stars, both countries debuting in the Maltese Airshow. Other highlights included a static display by a Ukrainian Air Force An-30, on its first visit to Malta, and the presence of a Royal Canadian air force CF-18 Hornet.
