This year has started on a bright note, with some interesting military visitors to Luqa and the organisation of the first ever AFM night shoot, where we were able to take pictures of the Armed Forces of Malta aircraft during night time operations. Pictures of this event can be found here.
Furthermore, in March 2018 I attended for the first time ever the military exercise Iniochos, which is a military exercise held in Greece that usually involves several NATO allies simulating scenarios involving aircraft in both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. The access for photographers was excellent and some brilliant images could be captured, as highlighted in the following Link.
Moreover, I also went with some friends for a 10 day trip in the land of the rising sun, mainly to witness the final operations of the F-4 phantom in Japanese Air Force service. Needless to say, this was a dream come true based on the feedback received from other photographers that have visited Japan, and the country has really lived up to my expectations with so much aircraft seen and photographed! I visited many air bases including Hyakuri Air Base, Iruma Air Base, Atsugi Air Base, Komatsu Air Base, Gifu Air Base, Komaki Air Base and MCAS Iwakuni Air Base. Some images of this great trip can be found in this album.
In 2018, the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom celebrated its 100th anniversary and since the celebrations took centre stage at RAF Fairford, a visit to this great airshow was mandatory based on the expectations and participants that were down to attend.
