Military Aviation Photography in 2016
In 2016, the Maltese Islands saw a variety of aircraft types visiting Luqa Airport.Besides my local airport, for the first time in 2016 I also visited four major exercises that take place on a yearly basis within mainland Europe and the Middle East. These included:
- Exercise Frisian Flag 2016 that took place in Leeuwarden, Netherlands;
- Exercise EART 2016 that took place in Eindhoven, Netherlands;
- NATO Tiger Meet that in 2016 took place in Zaragoza, Spain;
- Exercise Anatolian Eagle 2016 that took place in Konya, Turkey;
Following these four exercises, it was time for the Malta International Airshow 2016, which attracted one of the absolute highlights of all time in the history of the Maltese Airshow; a flying display from a Ukrainian Su-27 flanker. Other highlights included a flying display by a US Navy Poseidon, on its first visit to Malta, and the presence of a Portuguese air force Casa 295.
Towards the end of 2016, I also had the opportunity to visit two airbases in Poland, namely in Swidwin and in Marlbork.
